Wilmington Police Search for Silver Pickup Truck After Park Chase
Wilmington police are searching for the driver of a silver pickup truck accused of chasing two teenage girls through Wallace Park on Friday evening, WWAYTV3 reported. The incident occurred around 7:26 p.m. on South 21st Street, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Park Chase Details and Witness Intervention
As the silver pickup truck veered off the road, rolled down a small incline into the park, and chased them across the lawn, the targets—aged 12 and 13—ran away on foot. Police stated that the vehicle came close to hitting the girls during the pursuit. The truck stopped its pursuit only after a witness parked a vehicle to block its path, prompting the driver to leave the scene.
Suspect Descriptions and Vehicle Identifiers
Investigators said two males were inside the truck at the time of the incident, both estimated to be between 16 and their early 20s. Sporting jeans and a light-colored top, the operator of the vehicle is characterized as a white man with light brown or blond locks. The passenger is described as a Black male wearing jean shorts and a gray shirt. Law enforcement officials pointed out that the automobile could have a decal positioned on the upper-left section of the back glass, along with a second sticker situated on the tailgate underneath the handle.
Public Assistance and Tip Reporting
The Wilmington Police Department asks anyone with information about the truck or its occupants to contact investigators directly or submit an anonymous tip through the department’s Tip 411 application.
