Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Free Screening at BIFF
Beloit, WI – The Beloit International Film Festival (BIFF) will kick off its 21st season with a free screening of John Hughes’ iconic 1986 comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The screening commemorates the film’s 40th anniversary and is part of BIFF’s long-running FNBT Classic Film series.

The screening will take place at 2:30 PM at Visit Beloit, located at 656 Pleasant Street, Beloit, WI. Representatives from First National Bank & Trust Company, the presenting sponsor, will be present to welcome guests and distribute treats before the film begins. About the Film
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off stars Matthew Broderick as Ferris, a high school student who fakes illness to enjoy a day off in Chicago with his friends, Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) and Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck). Principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) is determined to catch Ferris in the act. The film is directed by John Hughes and also features Jennifer Grey as Jeanie Bueller, Charlie Sheen, and Ben Stein.
BIFF 2026 Season
The Beloit International Film Festival’s 21st season begins on Wednesday, March 25, and runs through Sunday, March 29, 2026. The festival will feature a variety of films and events, including the Student Filmmaker Showcase and the Hometown Stories screening, which will also take place at Visit Beloit immediately following the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off screening.
The Hometown Stories screening will feature films from Beloit and Wisconsin.
