Lady Toppers Improve at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, Hackett Leads

EATONTON, Ga. – The Western Kentucky University (WKU) women’s golf team climbed three spots in the second round of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, hosted by Mercer University, on Saturday. Play was delayed from Friday due to inclement weather.

Tournament Standings

WKU is currently in 10th place with a total score of 606 (+30) after posting a team score of 296 (+8) in the second round, a significant improvement from their first-round score of 310 (+22). The tournament is being held at the Great Waters Course in Eatonton, Georgia.

Player Highlights

  • Sydney Hackett: Carded a second-round score of 69 (-3) with four birdies, bringing her tournament total to 146 (+2) and securing a tie for 11th place.
  • Leah Edwards: Shot 75 (+3) in both the first and second rounds, totaling 150 (+6) and tying for 27th place.
  • Nina McMurtrey: Improved her score by eight strokes in the second round, shooting 73 (+1) for a tournament total of 154 (+9), placing her in a tie for 51st.
  • Grace Frei: Finished the second round with an 83 (+11), bringing her total to 160 (+16) and tying for 70th place.
  • Kaylee Dwyer: Shot a 79 (+7) in the second round, with a total score of 162 (+18), tying for 75th place.
