Heart Health for Women: A Preventative Approach
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death for women, often being underestimated, and underdiagnosed. Recognizing the unique risk factors and symptoms women experience is crucial for effective prevention and treatment. The Mutualité française Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (MfARA) is launching a series of webinars, “Cœur de femmes” (Heart of Women), to address this critical health issue and empower women to take control of their cardiovascular well-being.
Understanding the Risks
While often perceived as a “male” disease, heart disease affects women differently. Women experience unique vulnerabilities at various life stages, including during contraception use, pregnancy, and menopause . These periods can increase exposure to cardiovascular risk factors compared to men. Symptoms can also differ, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment.
