UAlbany Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Niagara, Prepares for UConn Matchup
The University at Albany women’s lacrosse team secured a 14-9 victory over Niagara University on Wednesday evening, marking their second consecutive win. The Great Danes now prepare to face the UConn Huskies on Saturday, February 28th, at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at Rizza Performance Center in Storrs, Connecticut.

- Paisley Cook broke program and America East single-game draw control records, claiming all 21 of UAlbany’s draw controls. Her previous record was 20, set on April 5, 2025, against Recent Hampshire. The NCAA Single-Game record is 24.
- Zareena Sorho led the Great Danes with four goals, taking a team-high eight shots.
- Kloey Roos contributed three goals to the scoring effort.
- Ravan Marsel dished out two assists and led the team with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Grace Cincebox played all 60 minutes in goal, recording seven saves against 16 shots on goal for a .438 save percentage.
How the Game Unfolded
Niagara’s Maddy Gill opened the scoring with a goal early in the first quarter. UAlbany responded with four consecutive goals, led by two goals from Amanda Williamson, to take a 4-1 lead. Niagara’s Ashleigh Blanding scored twice to narrow the gap, but goals from Zareena Sorho and Reggie Williams extended UAlbany’s lead to 6-3 at the end of the first quarter. Williams’ goal was her first career goal.
Jaedyn Frink added a goal in the second quarter, increasing UAlbany’s lead to 7-3 at halftime.
The third quarter saw a combined nine goals scored, with Kloey Roos and Zareena Sorho each adding two goals to achieve hat tricks. UAlbany led 12-7 after three quarters.
Both teams scored in the fourth quarter, with Mya Carroll scoring for Niagara and Zareena Sorho adding her fourth goal for UAlbany, finalizing the score at 14-9.
