world App Evolves with Secure Chat adn Crypto Payments
World, the biometric ID verification project co-founded by sam Altman, just released a major update to its app. The new version debuts several key features, including an encrypted chat integration and expanded crypto payment capabilities – essentially a Venmo for digital currencies.
Tools for Humanity created World in 2019, and the app officially launched in 2023. The company aims to combat the rising tide of AI-generated digital fakery by providing tools to reliably distinguish between humans and bots. It’s about creating digital “proof of human” in an increasingly synthetic world.
At a launch event in san Francisco, Altman and World’s co-founder and CEO, Alex Blania, introduced the updated app – dubbed a “super app” by developers. The product team then detailed the new features. Altman explained that World stemmed from discussions about building a new economic model rooted in web3 principles. The verification network is central to this vision.”It’s really hard to both identify unique people and do that in a privacy-preserving way,” he stated.
World Chat, the app’s new messenger, tackles this challenge head-on.It utilizes end-to-end encryption to protect user conversations, offering security comparable to Signal.
