App State Wrestling Opens SoCon Play Against Presbyterian

BOONE, N.C. – App State Wrestling begins its Southern Conference (SoCon) schedule on the road this Thursday with a dual meet against Presbyterian at 7 p.m. ET.
Match Details
The competition will take place at the Templeton Center on the Presbyterian University campus. This marks a change from previous matchups against Presbyterian, which were held at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville in 2022 and the Christian Life Center in Clinton in 2024.

Team Standings and Recent Performance
The Mountaineers enter the contest with a 3-7 overall record. last season, App State shared the SoCon regular season championship title. They have completed seven of their eight non-conference duals on their 2025-26 schedule.
Presbyterian currently holds a 0-5 overall record and an 0-2 record in SoCon duals. They recently faced close matches against Campbell (21-20 loss) and Davidson (21-9 loss). Key performers for the Blue Hose in those conference matchups include seniors Ryan Luna (141 pounds), Reed Douglass (184), and Morvens Saint Jean (heavyweight), each achieving a 2-0 record.

Under the direction of head coach JohnMark bentley, App State Wrestling has established a strong presence in the SoCon.Over the past 11 seasons, the Mountaineers have achieved a 73-7 conference record, ranking fourth among Division I wrestling programs – trailing only Cornell, Penn State, and Oklahoma State. As 2020, the program has recorded a national-best 19 dual shutouts, including two during the 2024-25 season.
