Miami Holds Top Spot in Coaches Poll

Miami (Fla.) retained the No. 1 ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll released on Oct. 25, 2026, after rolling past Pittsburgh in Week 8 action. The Hurricanes secured 67 of the 74 first-place votes from the panel of coaches, maintaining their grip on the top spot as the college football season navigates another weekend of widespread upsets and poll shifts.

Ohio State and Georgia Hold Steady

No. 2 Ohio State spent the weekend on an open date and picked up the remaining six first-place votes from the panel. Georgia also enjoyed an open date, climbing one spot in the rankings to land at No. 3. Meanwhile, Indiana needed overtime to defeat Michigan on the road, a hard-fought victory that pushed the Hoosiers up to No. 4 in the latest voting.

Utah and UCLA Enter the Top Five and Seven

Utah climbed into the top five for the first time since Dec. 1, 2019, taking the No. 5 spot as one of just three remaining unbeaten teams in the Bowl Subdivision. UCLA checks in at No. 7, the highest ranking for the Bruins since the 2014 preseason poll. The Bruins, the third member of the unbeaten club, also claim the last No. 1 vote.

Kentucky Climbs as Brigham Young Tumbles

Kentucky vaulted four places to No. 8, matching their highest position since Sept. 25, 2022. Brigham Young suffered its first loss of the campaign after falling in an upset against Central Florida, causing the Cougars to tumble six places to No. 9. Alabama is back in the top 10, though the Crimson Tide struggled to put away Texas A&M.

Texas Bounces Back and Oregon Drops Out

Texas returned to the win column and bounced back seven spots to No. 11, a notch ahead of the Mississippi team the Longhorns defeated. Texas Tech fell nine spots to No. 14 after losing its unbeaten status, while Arizona entered the top 25 at No. 21. Oregon is the lone dropout, as Southern California narrowly holds on to the No. 25 position.
