Double Fine’s Kiln and Other Xbox Titles Head to PlayStation 5
Microsoft is expanding its presence on PlayStation 5, with three Xbox titles slated for release in the coming weeks. This move includes a recent game from Double Fine Productions, alongside previously announced ports.
Kiln: A Multiplayer Pottery Brawler
Double Fine’s Kiln, a “multiplayer online pottery party brawler,” will launch on April 23, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5, Steam and with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate [Xbox News]. The game is as well an Xbox Play Anywhere title and will be Handheld Optimized.
Kiln features a unique gameplay loop where players shape clay into vessels on a pottery wheel, determining stats like health, water capacity, and speed based on size and shape. Different vessel shapes—bowls, bottles, chalices—grant unique special abilities. Cosmetic customizations are achieved through glazes and attachments.
The main game mode, Quench, involves teams of four competing to extinguish the opposing team’s kiln three times, whereas engaging in vessel-to-vessel combat. Maps include interactive elements like sponges for creating barriers and a “disco dance floor” that forces players to dance [Engadget]. An open beta for Kiln will be held on Steam from April 9 to 11, with pre-orders becoming available at that time. The base game is priced at $20, with a $30 “Fired Up” edition offering premium cosmetics and in-game currency (chips).
Other Xbox Titles Coming to PS5
Alongside Kiln, two other Xbox titles are also making their way to PlayStation 5:
- South of Midnight: Launching March 31, 2026 [Push Square].
- Starfield: Launching April 7, 2026, with a new “Free Lanes” update and a second DLC [Push Square].
Expanding Xbox’s Reach
This move signifies Microsoft’s broader strategy of publishing its Xbox games on PS5, with additional titles like Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and Fable also confirmed for release on the platform [Push Square].
