Xiaomi Expands Ecosystem with Xiaomi 17, Watch 5, and Innovative Xiaomi Tag

Barcelona, Spain – February 28, 2026 – Xiaomi unveiled a comprehensive suite of fresh products at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, including its flagship Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphones, the Xiaomi Watch 5 smartwatch, the Redmi Buds 8 Pro earbuds, and, for the first time, the Xiaomi Tag – a tracking device designed to compete with Apple’s AirTag.

Xiaomi Tag: A New Contender in the Tracking Device Market

The Xiaomi Tag is a simple, white puck designed for attaching to keys and other valuables. A key differentiator is its compatibility with Apple’s Find My network, allowing users to track the tag alongside their Apple devices. While it offers similar functionality to the AirTag, it currently lacks Apple’s Precision Tracking feature. Testing confirms the Xiaomi Tag is trackable via the Apple Find My network.

Xiaomi Watch 5: A Premium Smartwatch Experience

Launched in China in December 2025, the Xiaomi Watch 5 features a round design and runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. It boasts a 1.54-inch AMOLED display encased in a stainless steel frame. Powering the watch is a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, paired with a 930mAh battery. This represents a significant upgrade from the 2024 Watch S4, which featured a smaller display and half the battery capacity. The Watch 5 is positioned as a dress watch, offering health and activity tracking features including an EMG sensor and an ECG heart rate sensor. Xiaomi also offers a line of square-designed smartwatches called the Redmi Watch, resembling the Apple Watch in aesthetic.

Redmi Buds 8 Pro: Feature-Packed Earbuds

Alongside the flagship devices, Xiaomi also introduced the Redmi Buds 8 Pro earbuds. These earbuds offer hi-res audio support, active noise cancellation, and up to 36 hours of battery life. They also include a noise reduction system designed to ensure clear calls even in noisy environments (up to 95dB) and windy conditions. Additional features include Dolby Audio support, dynamic head tracking, and IP54 dust and water resistance.

Xiaomi 17: A Powerful Flagship Smartphone

The Xiaomi 17 is a powerful Android smartphone positioned as a competitor to Apple’s non-Pro iPhone models. It features a 6.3-inch, 120Hz OLED display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage. A substantial 6,330mAh battery provides power, supporting 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 17 boasts a Leica-branded triple camera system, comprising a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. A 50-megapixel selfie camera is located on the front of the device. The phone is available in Venture Green, Black, Alpine Pink, and Ice Blue.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Camera-Focused Flagship

Complementing the Xiaomi 17, the company also launched the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, a camera-focused flagship smartphone co-branded with Leica. The 17 Ultra utilizes Leica lenses and filters. It features a 50-megapixel main sensor with an F/1.67 aperture and a 1-inch sensor. Its standout feature is a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with a variable focal length of 75mm-100mm, offering 3.2x to 4.3x optical zoom. A 50 MP ultrawide camera completes the rear camera system. The Chinese version of the 17 Ultra includes a larger 6,800mAh battery, while the global version has a 6,000 mAh battery. It supports 90W USB PD-PPS charging and 50W Xiaomi Hypercharge wireless charging. The device features a 6.9-inch Xiaomi HyperRGB OLED display protected by Xiaomi’s Shield Glass 3.0 and includes a rotating ring for zoom control, mimicking a physical camera.

A special Leica edition of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also available, celebrating 100 years of the camera company. This edition features a durable aluminum-alloy body with a nickel-anodized finish and includes Leica-themed software filters recreating the style of Leica M9 and Leica M3 cameras.

Notably, Xiaomi also offers a magnetic battery pack for the Xiaomi 17, providing wireless charging. However, due to the larger camera bump on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the magnetic battery is not compatible with that model.
