The municipal initiative seeks to promote reading and illustration among children with a program of storytelling, music and a display of award-winning works
To the mayor of Santiago, Goretti Sanmartínaccompanied by the Minister of Education, Miriam Louzaoinaugurated the XX edition of the Municipal Reading Animation Campaign. At the event, with a storytelling and musical performance by Paco Nogueiras, there were also councilors from the rest of the Municipal Corporation, the director of Kalandraka Editora, Manuela Rodríguez, and the coordinator of the Afundación Santiago headquarters, Ana Salgado.
The activities of this XX edition will be held March 12th at the headquarters of Afundación, in rue do Vilar, in the old Casa do Pozo, and include bucket proposals both for educational centers and for families, and open exhibition to the public with the last seven winners of the Compostela International Prize for Illustrated Albums.
This municipal initiative seeks to “bring reading and illustration closer together in a pleasant and motivating framework” with the aim that girls and boys “see reading as a pleasurable activity”.
‘Big and small’
‘Big and Small’, the work of Arianna Squilloni e Rachel Catalina distinguished co XVIII Compostela International Prize for Illustrated Albumsconstitutes the axis of the programming. The books awarded since 2019 also share this prominence: ‘O can de Milu’ by Mariann Máray, ‘Dende 1880’ by Pietro Gottuso, ‘Selva’ by Marina Gibert, ‘Esperando o amencer’ by Fabiola Anchorena, ‘A visita’ by Núria Figueras and Anna Font, and ‘Bim Bam Bum’ by Maria Girón.
