President Vince Hockett to Retire in Spring 2027

XY Planning Network (XYPN) has launched a national search for a new president as current President Vince Hockett prepares to retire in the spring of 2027, Wealth Management reported. Hockett announced his plans to step down following seven years of leadership with the Bozeman, Montana-based member-based support platform for fee-only financial planners.

Since Hockett joined the organization in March 2020 as chief engagement officer after departing S&P Global Market Intelligence, total membership has more than doubled. According to data cited by Yahoo Finance, network membership expanded from approximately 1,172 advisors to 2,401 advisors during his tenure. Today, those independent planners provide fiduciary financial planning services to more than 100,000 clients.

Network Growth and Sapphire Platform Expansion

The upcoming executive transition coincides with a period of strategic expansion across XYPN’s core service offerings. In 2026, approximately 110 new firms are actively working toward RIA registration alongside the network’s compliance team, while roughly two-thirds of the total membership has moved past the initial launch phase to operate established advisory businesses. Co-founder and CEO Alan Moore and industry commentator Michael Kitces originally established the firm to provide discounted tools for financial planning, operations, and portfolio management.

Under Hockett’s administration, the organization rolled out Sapphire in 2024. That integrated RIA affiliation platform has expanded to oversee more than $1 billion in client assets across 52 participating advisors and more than 800 client households. Meanwhile, the standard monthly membership platform, Emerald, broadened its technology ecosystem by integrating external service providers.

Artificial Intelligence Collaborations and Leadership Transition

To support increasingly complex advisory operations, XYPN integrated artificial intelligence capabilities into its technology stack. In September, the network announced a partnership with wealth fintech Jump to supply members with discounted access to automated notetaking, customer relationship management updates, and account opening features. The platform also added tools from retirement income planning provider Income Lab.

XYPN confirmed that a structured transition period will take place to onboard the incoming president alongside Hockett prior to his retirement in 2027. Interested candidates can review the open role by visiting XYPN Careers.
