Yamaha Launches R200A Stereo Receiver to Replace R-S202

Yamaha has announced the launch of the R200A stereo receiver, replacing the R-S202 model with upgraded connectivity and audio engineering. Delivering 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, avmania.zive.cz reported that the new entry-level unit introduces a dedicated phono input for turntables and a separate output for an active subwoofer.

Alex Sadeghian, director of consumer audio at Yamaha, explained the product’s positioning in the company’s lineup. “With the R200A, we set out to create a stereo receiver that serves as a starting point into the world of Yamaha Hi-Fi while delivering a level of sound quality and performance that will surprise even long-time enthusiasts,” Sadeghian said. Re-engineered inside and out, the hardware incorporates a center beam chassis design to suppress vibration-induced interference, enhanced grounding circuitry, and screw-type binding-post speaker terminals instead of the spring clips found on the R-S202.

Pricing and European Versus American Feature Sets

The R200A carries an MSRP of $299.95 in the United States, while avmania.zive.cz reported an official European price of 369 euros with a scheduled release in November 2026. Regional specifications differ between markets. The European version includes a digital DAB+ tuner alongside analog FM and AM, whereas the American version features an AM/FM tuner with 40 programmable presets. Both versions feature standard dimensions of 435 mm in width, 137 mm in height, and 328 mm in depth, and are offered in black and silver finishes.

Bluetooth Multipoint and Analog Connectivity Limits

Wireless streaming on the R200A relies on Bluetooth 5.3 with Multipoint support, allowing users to pair two source devices simultaneously and switch playback without reconnecting, avmania.zive.cz reported. The receiver supports standard SBC and AAC codecs but does not permit simultaneous playback or mixing of both sources. The unit omits digital inputs such as optical or coaxial ports, network streaming, and HDMI ARC for television integration. Its USB port is restricted exclusively to firmware updates rather than music playback. Alongside the phono stage for moving-magnet cartridges, the receiver provides three analog inputs for equipment like CD players or separate streamers, plus a single line output and A/B speaker switching.
