DraftKings Opens Boise State As 13.5-Point Favorite Against Washington State
Bettors are heavily backing No. 21 Boise State as the team prepares to face Washington State on Saturday at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington. DraftKings Sportsbook opened the Broncos as 13.5-point favorites last Sunday before the line shifted down to 12.5 and then settled back to 13.5 for most of the week, according to game reports. By Sunday afternoon, the betting line rose to 14.5 on DraftKings. Boise State enters the matchup as a -625 favorite on the moneyline, while the Cougars sit at +455. The over/under for the contest is set at 51.5 points.
The Broncos carry a five-game winning streak into the matchup after dropping their season opener to Oregon. Meanwhile, Washington State looks to snap a four-game skid. Despite the recent losses, the Cougars generated their best offensive performance of the season against an FBS opponent last week during a game against Oregon State. Redshirt freshman quarterback Owen Eshelman tallied 289 passing yards, rushed for 136 yards, and accounted for three total touchdowns with just one turnover in his first career start.
Boise State Head Coach Spencer Danielson Praises Cougars Offense
Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson noted the trajectory of the Cougars’ offense during his Thursday media session.
“They are really hitting their groove,” Danielson told local reporters. “You can see it, especially the second half of the Oregon State game. They’re putting you in conflict formationally, that quarterback is in rhythm. Head coach Kirby Moore is putting him in really good situations to make plays … and they’re starting to find their rhythm.”
Although Washington State surrendered 48 points and 555 yards to Oregon State last week, the defense holds statistical ground within the conference. The Cougars rank fourth in the Pac-12 in total defense by allowing 383.9 yards per game and fifth in scoring defense by giving up 27.1 points per contest.
“It’s a really good football team we’re playing,” Danielson said. “Defensively, do a great job with their front. Their two edge players play extremely hard, their D tackles are very disciplined. Third down is a nightmare with all the blitz patterns. … We’ve got our hands full with their defense.”
