Long Island Ducks Re-Sign Catcher Ronaldo Flores

Central Islip, N.Y. – January 20, 2026 – Teh Long Island Ducks have announced the re-signing of catcher Ronaldo Flores for the 2026 season. The Ducks’ manager, Lew Ford, expressed his enthusiasm about Flores’ return, stating, “Ronaldo did a terrific job for us last season, both at the plate and in the field. We are excited to welcome him back to Long Island.”

Flores’ 2025 Season Highlights

Flores enjoyed a standout 2025 season with the Ducks, appearing in 73 games. He achieved career-highs across multiple offensive categories, including a .341 batting average, 12 home runs, 41 rbis, 30 runs, 85 hits, 13 doubles, and a .929 OPS.His impressive performance earned him a selection to the Atlantic League‘s Mid-Season All-Star Team, presented by Baseball America. He led the league with a .362 batting average and the ducks with a .546 slugging percentage during the first half of the season.

Defensively, Flores maintained a .993 fielding percentage and threw out 19% of runners attempting to steal in 45 games behind the plate.

Professional Background

The Venezuela native brings a wealth of experience to the Ducks, having previously played in the San Francisco Giants (2019, 2021-2022) and Los Angeles angels (2023-2024) organizations, reaching as high as Double-A. Across 232 games in those systems, he recorded a .269 batting average with 14 home runs, 103 RBIs, 96 runs, 213 hits, 41 doubles, two triples, and 42 walks. He also posted a .988 fielding percentage as a catcher, throwing out 28% of potential base stealers. Flores was originally signed by the Giants as an amateur free agent in 2018.
