Coupang Play expanded its movie catalog on the 6th with six new titles spanning horror, action and awards-season drama, newscj.com reported. The lineup ranges from a reimagined Resident Evil story to Marty Supreme, the sports comedy that earned Timothée Chalamet a Golden Globe.

The additions give subscribers a horror-heavy slate alongside prestige fare, including a Cannes-selected Korean thriller and a 1920s true-crime drama starring Angelina Jolie.

Resident Evil: 0th Night Reboots the Game Franchise

The reboot of the popular survival horror game series arrives as Resident Evil: 0th Night.

Jack Cregger, the director of Barbarian and Weapons, helmed the film, which adds new characters and storylines to the original game’s world while using first-person camera work to mimic playing the game directly. The film pairs an ordinary protagonist’s struggle with attacks by eerie infected, delivering both chills and unexpected laughs.

Timothée Chalamet Leads Marty Supreme

Marty Supreme is a sports comedy about a young man’s reckless pursuit of a table tennis comeback. Set in 1950s New York, Timothée Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, a player consumed by the ambition to become the world’s best, resorting to lies and scams that drag those around him into trouble.

The film draws inspiration from Marty Reisman, a real-life table tennis champion and gambler. Chalamet transformed his appearance with short hair and a mustache and trained in table tennis for roughly six years to prepare for the role, winning the Best Actor award in the musical or comedy film category at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.

Peninsula Returns to the Zombie-Ravaged Korean Peninsula

Set four years after Train to Busan, Peninsula unfolds on a Korean peninsula reduced to ruins by a zombie virus. Kang Dong-won plays Jung-seok, a former soldier living in Hong Kong after barely escaping Korea, who is offered a deal to return and recover a truck carrying a large sum of cash. After being ambushed by a zombie horde and the lawless 631 Battalion militia, the mission turns into a fight for survival.

Jung-seok enlists the help of Min-jeong, played by Lee Jung-hyun, a family that survived in the wasteland. Director Yeon Sang-ho pre-designed the car chase through the ruined downtown Seoul using 3D animation, creating scenes of massive zombie hordes tangling with vehicles.

Changeling Revisits a 1928 Los Angeles Kidnapping Case

Based on a real 1928 Los Angeles incident, Changeling follows a mother’s fight against a corrupt police organization to recover her missing son. Angelina Jolie stars as Christine Collins, who raises her nine-year-old son alone until police tell her months later that they found him — but the returned boy is a different child. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, police have Collins forcibly committed to a psychiatric hospital, while pastor Gustav Briegleb, played by John Malkovich, publicizes her injustice and leads the effort to expose the police’s lies.

Through one mother’s desperate struggle, the film examines the corrupt power and justice system of 1920s American society.
