Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 Earns State Recognition

Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 earned eight Exemplary summative designations on the 2025-2026 Illinois Report Card, reflecting measurable gains across English language arts, math, and science. The Illinois State Board of Education released the updated accountability data, which evaluates school performance independently of other districts across the state.

Academic Proficiency Gains Across District 47

Student proficiency climbed across core academic subjects on state assessments, including the Illinois Assessment of Readiness and Dynamic Learning Maps. English language arts proficiency reached 61.7%, marking a 6.4% increase from last year. Math proficiency rose to 43.6%, representing a 5.7% increase. Science performance saw 58.4% of students meeting or exceeding expectations, an 8.7% increase from last year.

Accountability Ratings and School Designations

Under the state’s updated accountability system, summative ratings measure student progress and proficiency without comparison to other Illinois schools. Eight District 47 schools secured the state’s highest designation of Exemplary: Husmann, Indian Prairie, North, South, West, Woods Creek, Hannah Beardsley, and Lundahl. Four additional schools earned strong ratings, with Coventry, Glacier Ridge, and Bernotas receiving Approaching Exemplary, and Canterbury earning Commendable.

Attendance Improvements and Chronic Absenteeism Reduction

District data attributes academic and social growth in part to consistent student attendance. Nearly 89% of District 47 students met or exceeded the state standard for consistent attendance, driven by strategic outreach and family partnerships. That progress reduced the chronic absenteeism rate by 33% in a single school year and cut it nearly in half over the past five years.

This report card shows meaningful, measurable progress, and our students and staff deserve every bit of this recognition, said Dr. Kathy Hinz, superintendent. We are proud to celebrate these accomplishments, and we will use this momentum and data to ensure every student continues to grow, empower and thrive.
