anggito Abimanyu Considered for LPS Chair, Deputy Finance Minister Position to Remain Vacant
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa addressed reports that Deputy Finance Minister Anggito Abimanyu is a candidate for Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).
The position was previously held by Purbaya before his appointment as Finance Minister by President Prabowo Subianto.
Purbaya stated that if Anggito officially becomes the head of the LPS, the Deputy Finance Minister position will remain unfilled, and there are currently no plans to appoint a replacement.
“He has moved to the LPS,” Purbaya confirmed.”We aren’t planning to fill the Deputy Minister role immediately.”
This move suggests a strategic shift within the financial leadership, with Anggito’s expertise perhaps being directed towards strengthening the stability of the banking sector through the LPS. The LPS plays a crucial role in guaranteeing deposits and maintaining public trust in Indonesia’s financial system.
The decision to leave the Deputy Finance Minister position vacant could indicate a streamlining of roles within the Ministry, or a intentional choice to allow existing staff to absorb the responsibilities. Further details regarding the transition and future plans for the Ministry are expected to be announced soon.
