Our Commitment to Accessibility

ArchyNewsy is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe everyone should have equal access to the information and stories we provide. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards as a part of our ongoing efforts.

Our Approach

As a small, independent publication, we are working to build accessibility into our website from the ground up. Our goal is to adhere to the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. While we may not be fully compliant yet, it is our guiding principle for development and content creation.

Measures We Are Taking

We are taking the following steps to make our site more accessible:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper headings (H1, H2, etc.) and HTML5 elements to structure our content, which helps screen readers understand the page layout.
  • Image Alt Text: We are committed to providing descriptive alternative text for all new images we publish to convey their meaning to visually impaired users.
  • Keyboard Navigation: We aim to ensure that all interactive elements of our site can be navigated and used with a keyboard.
  • Readability: We choose clear, legible fonts and strive for good color contrast in our design.

Known Limitations and Future Goals

We are aware that some parts of our website may have accessibility issues, particularly older articles or embedded third-party content. We are working to identify and address these issues over time. Our future goals include providing transcripts for all audio content and ensuring all video content has accurate captions.
