UPDATE: December 17 at 8:45 p.m.

Lewis and Clark County Board of Commissioners have issued an Emergency Declaration following today’s high wind event causing widespread damage across the county.

Fallen trees, downed power lines and disrupted traffic signage have created hazardous conditions. Essential services are also facing disruptions.

“This storm has caused widespread damage that will take a lot of time and effort to clean up,” said Kyle Sturgill-Simon, Lewis and Clark County Emergency Manager. “The emergency declaration is the first step in getting additional resources to help our community recover.”

Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling. Officials warn to watch for debris on roadways and missing signage at intersections. It is crucial to stay clear of downed power lines for safety.

Bozeman Locals Weigh In on ‘Cat-Griz Part 2’ name

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The rivalry between Montana State University (MSU) and the University of Montana (UM) is legendary, and the upcoming football game on Nov. 18th has ignited a new debate: what to call this highly anticipated rematch? After MSU’s historic 31-29 victory over UM in Missoula last month, ending a 16-game losing streak, fans are affectionately dubbing this next matchup “cat-Griz Part 2.” But is that the right name?

The Fairfield Sun-Times took to the streets of Bozeman to gather opinions from locals. The response was overwhelmingly keen, but also surprisingly diverse.

“It just feels right,” said lifelong Bobcat fan, Sarah Miller. “After all these years of getting beat, finally winning in Missoula… it deserves a ‘Part 2.’ It’s like a movie sequel!”

Others suggested more creative titles. “The Redemption Game,” proposed local business owner, Tom Hanson. “That’s what it is indeed, a redemption for decades of heartbreak.”

Some fans leaned into the historical importance.”The Turnover Triumph,” suggested MSU student,Emily Carter, referencing the crucial turnovers that helped secure the Bobcats’ win.

Though, not everyone is on board with the “Cat-griz Part 2” moniker. “It’s a little cheesy,” admitted UM alumnus visiting from Missoula, mark Johnson.”But honestly, after what happened, I can’t really complain.”

The debate extends beyond just a catchy name. For many, it represents a shift in the power dynamic of the rivalry.

“This isn’t just another game,” said Bozeman resident and MSU season ticket holder, David Lee. “This is a statement. This is the new era of Bobcat football.”

Regardless of what it’s called, one thing is certain: the atmosphere at Bobcat Stadium on Nov. 18th will be electric. The game is already sold out, and anticipation is building with each passing day. Whether it’s “Cat-Griz Part 2,” “The Redemption Game,” or something else entirely, this rematch promises to be a historic event for Montana college football.
