Government Declares Sumatra Disaster a National Priority
Jakarta – The government is actively managing the disaster affecting aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra as a national priority. All national resources are being deployed to aid recovery efforts in the impacted areas.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed this, responding to ongoing discussions about declaring a national disaster status for the Sumatra region. He emphasized that disaster management in Sumatra is already being conducted on a national scale.
“There are still parties discussing the status of a national disaster. Here’s the situation: this disaster impacts three provinces, but for the last week or two, the focus has been primarily on Aceh,” Teddy stated at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Friday (2025/12/20).
