Nvidia to Ship AI Chips to China Before Lunar New Year

Technology giant Nvidia, the world’s largest video processor maker, has informed Chinese customers that it plans to start shipping its second-highest AI chip to China before the Lunar New Year holiday in mid-february, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.

The US video processor maker plans to honor initial orders from existing inventory, with shipments estimated at a total of 5,000 to 10,000 chip modules – the equivalent of about 40,000 to 80,000 AI H200 processors, the first and second sources said.

Nvidia has also told chinese customers it plans to add new chip manufacturing capacity, with orders for that capacity set to open in the second quarter of 2026, the third source said.
