Despite strained public finances and a challenging international security situation, the Stormarn district has achieved significant positive outcomes in the past year. While budgetary constraints require careful management, ample progress has been made across various sectors.
Key Achievements in 2024
Emergency Services & Disaster Control
The new integrated regional control center in Bad Oldesloe was successfully launched this summer. this center handles all emergency calls to the 112 number, ensuring quick and competent assistance during emergencies.Furthermore, numerous new vehicles were delivered to emergency services to bolster disaster control capabilities.
Infrastructure Development
Investments were made in improving infrastructure, including the construction of new cycle paths. Planning has also commenced for expansions to both the Woldenhorn School and the Ahrensburg vocational School, demonstrating a commitment to educational facilities.
Vocational Training Enhancements
A significant change is on the horizon for vocational schools in Stormarn. From 2026, these schools will transition into self-reliant vocational training centers (BBZ). This restructuring will allow organizations to offer vocational training more flexibly and with greater focus on specific needs.
