Mboko Falls to Andreeva in Adelaide international Final, Shifts Focus to Australian Open

Toronto’s Victoria Mboko experienced a narrow defeat in her quest for her first title of the 2026 season, falling to mirra Andreeva in the Adelaide International women’s tennis final on Saturday. The 19-year-old Canadian was bested 6-3, 6-1 by the third-seeded Russian player.

Mboko, seeded eighth in the tournament, struggled with her first serve, winning only 50% of points. Despite delivering two aces,she committed three double faults and managed to convert only one of her break point opportunities throughout the match.

Andreeva demonstrated greater efficiency on her serve, securing 73% of her first-serve points with one ace and one double fault.She capitalized on her chances, breaking Mboko on five of ten opportunities.

Despite the loss, Mboko remains a strong contender as she now sets her sights on the Australian Open. she is scheduled to play Australia’s Emerson Jones in the opening round on Monday and enters the Grand Slam event as the No. 17 seed. This marks a significant showing for the young Canadian as she continues to build momentum on the international tennis circuit.
