Mayo Clinic Faces Trial in Retaliation Lawsuit filed by Dr. Michael Joyner

Rochester, MN – A highly anticipated jury trial is set to begin on February 2nd, pitting Dr. Michael Joyner against the Mayo Clinic in a dispute centered around allegations of retaliation. the case, which has been ongoing since initial filings, stems from Dr. Joyner’s claims that the medical institution retaliated against him following the release of his research findings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Joyner initially filed a lawsuit alleging violations of the Minnesota Whistleblower Act and breach of contract. However, those claims were subsequently dismissed by the judge. The current legal battle focuses on allegations that the Mayo Clinic violated its own anti-retaliation policy and established appeals procedures.

The Mayo Clinic maintains that any disciplinary action taken against Dr. Joyner was not related to his research but rather to what they characterize as unprofessional conduct during an interview.

The trial is expected to be a lengthy process, with court records indicating a projected duration of 10 days and a witness list of 22 individuals.

Attorneys representing Dr. Joyner have expressed their client’s eagerness to present his case in court. “Dr. Joyner is looking forward to his day in court,” a statement from his legal team read.

The Mayo Clinic has declined to comment on the ongoing legal proceedings.
