Takaichi Skips TV Debate Due to Hand Injury

Tokyo, Japan – Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has canceled her scheduled appearance on a televised debate program this Sunday morning due to a hand injury sustained while campaigning for teh February 8th general election.

The debate, hosted by NHK, was to feature Takaichi, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), alongside other party leaders. The discussion was planned for the House of Representatives,Japan’s lower chamber of parliament,and intended to provide voters with a comparative overview of each party’s platform ahead of the upcoming election.

The LDP notified NHK sunday morning of Takaichi’s inability to participate in the 75-minute program, which was set to begin at 9:00 AM JST. Further details regarding the nature of the injury and potential impact on the campaign schedule have not yet been released.
