If there’s one thing our industry is missing,
it’s not capital.
It’s not technology.
It’s not ideas.
It’s people.
More specifically:
younger people.
I entered this industry in my early 20s.
I didn’t have a mortgage background.
I didn’t own a home.
But someone gave me a chance.
Today, that door is harder to find.
We talk a lot about succession planning inside
individual companies.
We talk far less about it as an industry.
Too often the mindset is:
“I’ll sell before this becomes my problem.”
That thinking creates a slow leak
that eventually becomes a flood.
If we don’t intentionally bring younger talent in
train them, mentor them, invest in them
we’re not just risking companies.
We’re risking the industry itself.
This is hard work.
It takes time, patience, and resources.
But it’s also the work that matters most.
Because the next generation doesn’t need perfection.
They need access.
They need guidance.
They need someone willing to show them the ropes.
If we care about the future of housing,
this is where the work starts.
