Fresh Eggs Recalled: Salmonella Risk – Affected Batches

Il Ministry of Health has issued a new food recall notice for precautionary purposes which concerns several batches of fresh eggs of category A. The measure was adopted following the manufacturer’s report, due to the suspicion of possible contamination from salmonella enterica subsp. Enteritidis, one of the main agents responsible for food-borne infections.

The affected eggs are distributed on the market in packs of six units, both in cardboard and plastic. The invitation to consumers is to carefully check the information on the packaging and shells, so as to identify any products belonging to the reported batches.

Recalled eggs, affected batches and how to recognize them

The recall concerns category A eggs, in weight classes M, L and XLwith laying dates between 18 and 25 February 2026. The code stamped on the eggs not to be consumed is 3IT073SA007. This is the essential data for product identification.

The manufacturer indicated in the ministerial notice is the “Serroni” agricultural and poultry company of Cavallaro Angelo & C. snc. The production plant is located in Serroni Alto, in the municipality of Montecorvino Rovella, in the province of Salerno.

The identification mark of the establishment is UE IT K1557: a code also present on the packaging and shells.

Recommendations for egg consumers

As a purely precautionary measure, the Ministry of Health recommends: do not consume eggs belonging to the reported batcheseven if the product appears intact and correctly stored.

People in possession of the recalled eggs can return them to the point of sale in which they were purchased, according to the methods established by the individual merchants.

Salmonella enterica can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, fever and abdominal painwith potentially more serious consequences for children, the elderly and vulnerable individuals.

For this reason, in the presence of a suspicion of contamination, health authorities have always adopted a principle of maximum precaution.

A broader picture of controls and recalls

The case of the recalled fresh eggs is part of a context of constant food safety monitoring. From January 1, 2026, as reported by The Food Fact19 official recalls were published, for a total of 45 products belonging to different companies and brands.

In recent weeks, for example, this has happened to some frozen hake fillets and to local salami with garlic. But also to children’s milk due to the risk of microbiological contamination, to a batch of minestrone soup and a batch of dog kibble.

These numbers highlight the importance of rigorous and timely control of food products and the need to inform consumers in a clear and timely manner.

The precautionary recall of Serroni fresh eggs therefore underlines the importance of prudence in the management of food products. Checking the lots and following ministerial indications is not only a gesture of personal safety, but helps to guarantee the protection of public health.

Finally, the Ministry invites you to regularly consult the portal dedicated to food safety alertsa fundamental tool for staying updated on recalls, withdrawals and revocations of potentially at-risk products.
