After the half-sanction of the Labor Reform project, the ruling party resumes legislative activity in the Senate with the call for the formation of two key commissions in order to process the specifications to appoint ambassador to Belgium Fernando Iglesias.

In this way, the call for a meeting of the Foreign Relations and Worship Commission appears on the agenda for next Wednesday, February 18, at 5 p.m. in the Arturo Illia Room for the appointment of its authorities. This commission was in the hands of the Formoseño Francisco Paolotroni and, for this reason, the Mercosur – European Union Agreement, which received half a sanction from Deputies in the early hours of this Friday, must also pass.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, February 19 at 11, it will be the turn of the Agreements Commission, which would first be established, and then focus on the treatment of file 175/25 of the Executive Branch that requests an agreement to appoint Mr. Fernando Adolfo Iglesias as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador, who entered the Upper House on February 2.

In a meeting of the ruling bloc weeks ago, it was resolved that the presidency of the important commission, which rules on the specifications for the appointment of judges, prosecutors and defenders, in addition to military and diplomatic promotions, would remain in the hands of Juan Carlos Pagotto. The man from Rioja, who spent the last two years at the head of Justice and Criminal Affairs, is close to the Menem and Karina Milei.

It should be noted that both commissions are missing the members of the interblock that leads José Mayans, due to opposition members’ disagreement over the number of places they were given.
