Local Spirit Shines as Pescadoires Kicks Off Blood Drive Season

Pescadoires kicked off the new year by setting a positive example, rallying its residents for a successful blood drive on January 15th. Despite often turbulent seasonal trends and the prevalence of colds, 52 community members stepped forward, contributing 44 viable donations to the local blood supply. This includes four individuals making their first-ever blood donation, a testament to the drive’s success in inspiring new contributors.

Behind the scenes, the Amicale des donneurs de sang de la basse vallée du Lot, a dedicated local blood donor association, orchestrated the event with commendable efficiency. Their ongoing efforts, which included information campaigns at neighborhood markets and supermarkets, installation and management of EFS equipment, post-donation refreshments, and meticulous cleanup, highlight their commitment to making the process smooth and welcoming for everyone. Led by Jean-Louis Bayeurte, the amicale prioritizes community engagement and inclusivity. Anne-Françoise Lerenard manages their finances as trésorière, while Morgane Duquesne acts as secrétaire and Bruno Lerenard as secrétaire adjoint. Notably, Caroline Souvay, a respected local tennis coach, has recently joined their ranks, bringing fresh energy and expertise to the team.

This blood drive follows the amicale’s guiding principle of maximizing participation and promoting blood donation as a vital civic duty. Their consistent efforts serve as a model for cultivating a culture of giving within the Pescadoires community.

The amicale invites residents to stay connected and participate in their upcoming assemblée générale on February 26th at 6 PM, held once again at Pescadoires’ salle des fêtes. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the amicale’s work and how to become involved in future initiatives.
