The New England Patriots, after a surprising 2025 season that culminated in a Super Bowl LX appearance, are poised to develop significant moves this offseason to return to championship contention. With substantial cap space and a robust collection of draft picks, the Patriots are exploring all avenues to improve their roster, and a trade for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has emerged as a top priority.

A Rapid Turnaround Under Mike Vrabel

In his first year as head coach, Mike Vrabel transformed the Patriots from a 4-13 team in 2024 to a 14-3 regular season record and a Super Bowl contender. Despite falling to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, the Patriots’ progress under Vrabel has instilled optimism and a sense of urgency to capitalize on the current window of opportunity while quarterback Drake Maye remains on his rookie contract.

Crosby as a Key Addition

The Patriots recognize a need to enhance their pass rush, despite having a stout defense in 2025 led by defensive tackles Milton Williams and Christian Barmore. Patriots’ Executive Director of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf has similarly indicated a willingness to explore trades that benefit the team both in the short and long term.
