Carlos Rodriguez Joins White Sox as Assistant General Manager

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Carlos Rodriguez has embraced the tradition, legacy, and passionate fan base as key factors in his decision to join the Chicago White Sox as an assistant general manager. Rodriguez expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the organization’s success and making the city proud.

The White Sox announced Rodriguez’s hiring on December 19, 2025. He brings 16 seasons of experience with the Tampa Bay Rays, including the last six as a vice president MLB.com.

Alignment with Chris Getz’s Vision

Rodriguez highlighted a strong alignment with General Manager Chris Getz’s vision for the organization as a significant draw. “Just felt we are really aligned on his vision for the organization, the people, the process in place,” Rodriguez stated. He saw momentum building under Getz and believed he could contribute to the process.

Extensive Experience with the Rays

During his time with the Rays, Rodriguez held various roles, including vice president/assistant GM (November 2022), vice president of baseball operations (2022), and vice president of player development and international scouting (2019-21) Chicago Tribune. He described the Rays’ approach as a “relentless pursuit of trying to find different ways to get better,” emphasizing the importance of scouting, player development, and strategic transactions.

Focus on Player Development and the Major League Roster

Rodriguez’s role with the White Sox will be broad, encompassing talent acquisition, player development tools, and a focus on the player as the “North Star.” He emphasized the importance of supporting players through nutrition and specialized programs. Currently, much of his focus is on the major-league roster, but he anticipates opportunities to contribute to other areas of the organization throughout the season.

Optimism for the 2026 Season

Rodriguez expressed optimism about the team’s momentum, citing the signings of slugger Munetaka Murakami and reliever Seranthony Domínguez as “real notable strides.” He acknowledged the necessitate for continued improvement and expressed hope that the team would continue to build upon its progress Chicago Tribune.
