Britain’s Got Talent Dancer Kerri-Anne Donaldson’s Death Followed Sexual Offence Arrest
Kerri-Anne Donaldson, a dancer who reached the semi-finals of the 2014 series of Britain’s Got Talent as part of the group Kings and Queens, died by suicide three days after being arrested on suspicion of a sexual offence, an inquest has heard.
Details of the Case
Donaldson, 38, was found dead at her home in Farnborough, Hampshire, on June 7, 2023 . She had been arrested on June 4, 2023, and interviewed by police regarding a “sexual” offence, which she denied . Following her release from custody, Donaldson was reported missing after failing to return home.
Events Leading to Death
Donaldson was later located at a Travelodge in Woking, Surrey, where she was found to have taken an overdose. Her sister, Cara Donaldson, recounted that Kerri-Anne was en route to St Peter’s Hospital after being discovered at the hotel . At the hospital, Kerri-Anne reportedly told a doctor she intended to end her life.
Concerns Regarding Aftercare
Cara Donaldson stated that after her sister was discharged from the hospital, no care plan or guidance was provided to the family. She spent the evening with Kerri-Anne on June 6, expressing her fear of leaving her alone, to which Kerri-Anne reassured her, stating she would not take her own life. A final message sent by Kerri-Anne read, “Thanks for everything today,” accompanied by a heart emoji .
Discovery and Final Message
The following morning, when Cara Donaldson couldn’t reach her sister, she went to her home and found a note instructing her to call 999 and not enter, along with an apology. Cara Donaldson described her sister as having a “heart of gold” and being “full of fun,” and a dedicated dance teacher .
A post-mortem examination indicated that Ms. Donaldson had taken her own life. The inquest is ongoing as of February 16, 2026 .
