Anger Expresses Disappointment After Team Sprint Finish at the Olympics
Milano Cortina 2026 – Swedish cross-country skier Edvin Anger, 23, expressed feelings of frustration and exhaustion following Sweden’s tenth-place finish in the Olympic team sprint event. Despite a strong performance from teammate Johan Häggström, Anger struggled on the final stretch, ultimately costing the team a potential medal.
The Swedish duo were in contention for a medal for much of the race, with Häggström sending Anger out in fourth place on the last leg. Though, Anger lacked the necessary energy to compete with the leaders in the final stages, dropping places and securing a tenth-place finish.
“There will be a bit of a feeling of panic,” Anger stated after the race, describing the moment he realized he couldn’t maintain the pace. “Johan really gives me the chance to go for it and we do it together. But I don’t have the legs and that last thing when you have to switch to red and push…there isn’t.”
Anger acknowledged Häggström’s strong performance throughout the race, praising his teammate’s efforts. “He does three fantastic stretches and shows how good he is at this. Unfortunately, I don’t have the last little thing required. Unfortunately, this championship has been like that,” he said.
The disappointing result marks the end of Anger’s Olympic competition, as he will not participate in the final five miles. He indicated a need for rest, stating he felt tired and unwell.
Häggström offered support to Anger, emphasizing that the duo had given their best effort under the circumstances. He highlighted their strategic approach to the race, noting they executed their plan effectively until the final hill.
Norway secured the gold medal in the team sprint, followed by the USA and Italy.
