DJI and Insta360 Lead the Charge in Advanced Drone Technology

The professional drone technology sector is experiencing rapid development, driven by increasing demand for high-quality visuals. These devices are evolving beyond hobbyist tools to develop into essential instruments for content production, mapping and infrastructure monitoring, thanks to high-resolution cameras and precision navigation systems. Leading this innovation are companies like DJI and Insta360, each pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in aerial technology.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro: A Triple-Camera Powerhouse

DJI’s latest offering, the Mavic 4 Pro, is designed to meet the needs of content creators and professional photographers requiring visual flexibility. The drone features a three-camera configuration within a single device. According to Erajaya Active Lifestyle CEO Djohan Sutanto, the Mavic 4 Pro is equipped with a Hasselblad main camera featuring a 4/3 CMOS sensor with a 100-megapixel resolution. This is paired with 70mm and 168mm telephoto cameras, also CMOS-based.

The entire camera system is mounted on an Infinity Gimbal, capable of 360-degree rotation, allowing for unconventional shooting angles of up to 70 degrees and above. Video recording capabilities extend to 6K/60fps HDR, supported by Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS). Features like Dual Native ISO Fusion and RAW Stacking aim to deliver more detailed images and accurate color reproduction. The telephoto lenses provide cinematic flexibility through perspective compression and subject isolation.

“With three Hasselblad cameras, extraordinary flight performance, and advanced features such as ActiveTrack 360 and 6K HDR recording, the Mavic 4 Pro is the perfect solution for content creators, photographers and videographers who prioritize premium quality,” stated Djohan Sutanto.

Safety is a key consideration, with DJI incorporating vision-based Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing, optimized for low-light conditions. Visual positioning technology and 360-degree ActiveTrack enhance precise subject tracking during flight. The drone boasts a flight time of up to 51 minutes powered by a 95Wh battery and a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour. The DJI O4+ transmission system supports HD video transmission up to 30 kilometers. Operation is managed via the DJI RC Pro 2, featuring a 7-inch Mini-LED screen and HDMI port. A parallel charging hub enables simultaneous charging of three batteries in approximately 90 minutes and can also function as a 100W power bank. The Creator Combo variant offers up to 512 GB of internal storage and supports Wi-Fi 6 for fast data transfer.

Insta360 Antigravity A1: Pioneering 8K 360° Aerial Recording

Insta360 is also making waves with its Antigravity A1 drone, claimed to be the world’s first capable of 360-degree recording in 8K resolution. The Antigravity A1 utilizes a dual top and bottom camera configuration, supported by a sophisticated stitching algorithm that renders the drone body invisible in the footage. This allows for comprehensive panoramic capture without blind spots.

The device incorporates FreeMotion technology, providing an immersive flying experience through Vision Goggles and a Grip controller. Pilots can direct the drone to a specific point while simultaneously viewing in any direction via a real-time 360-degree view. Insta360 emphasizes a “fly first, frame later” concept, enabling users to record the entire scene in a single flight and determine the framing during the editing process. Footage can be exported in various aspect ratios without quality loss, with options for effects like Tiny Planet or horizon reversal.

Weighing 249 grams, the Antigravity A1 is designed for portability. Safety features, including return-to-home and payload detection systems, are included to ensure operation within established standards. “Antigravity A1 is unlike any brand we’ve ever helped bring to market, and is poised to revolutionize drone flying in several important ways,” emphasized Max Richter, Co-Founder and VP of Marketing at Insta360.
