The family-run business, which offers a unique role-play experience for children, had initially announced its closure in August 2025 due to rising overheads, but a surge in online support prompted a change of heart.

Proprietor Aoife Watters made the difficult decision to close the centre on August 2nd, citing increasing costs related to rates, wages, electricity, and consistently reaching full capacity. However, following the announcement, a wave of support emerged through social media, leading Watters to reconsider.
“With the power of social media and support they received from the public following the closure announcement, they have decided to reopen from today,” Northern Sound News reported.

The Hidden Village Role Play Centre provides an immersive environment where children can explore, imagine, and learn through play. Opened 12 months prior to the initial closure announcement, the centre aims to create affordable, safe, and memorable days out for families. Watters expressed her passion for creating positive experiences for local children and highlighted the importance of community support for small businesses. She also hopes to introduce an after-school service at the premises in the coming weeks, recognizing a need for such a service in the locality.
