Four Injured in Woodlawn Shooting, Chicago Police Investigating

Chicago, IL – A shooting in the Woodlawn neighborhood on Wednesday evening left four individuals wounded, according to Chicago police. The incident occurred around 7:12 p.m. In the 6600-block of South Stony Island Avenue.

Details of the Shooting

Police reported that a vehicle approached the location, and several occupants exited, opening fire on individuals nearby. Officers responding to the scene subsequently pursued the suspect vehicle.

Victim Conditions

One male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. An 18-year-aged male suffered gunshot wounds to the back and leg, while a 19-year-old male was shot in the leg. Both were also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and listed in fair condition. An additional 18-year-old male sustained a graze wound to the back and was transported to the same hospital, where he was reported in good condition.

Chicago police are currently questioning several persons of interest in connection with the shooting.

U.S. Representative Robin Kelly released a statement late Wednesday expressing her concern and reaffirming her commitment to addressing gun violence. “Praying for those impacted after tonight’s shooting near Jackson Park. Preventing gun violence is a priority of mine. Period. I will continue my fight in the US Senate. Our communities deserve better. Preventing gun violence and saving lives will always be my top priority,” Kelly stated.
