Redhawks Host RedHawks in Four-Game Weekend Series

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO – The Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) Redhawks (3-6) will welcome the Miami University (OH) RedHawks (7-1) to Capaha Field for a four-game series beginning Friday, February 27, and running through Sunday, March 1. All games will be played in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Series Schedule

  • Friday: 3 p.m. CT
  • Saturday: Doubleheader – 12 p.m. CT & 4 p.m. CT (approximately 30 minutes after game one)
  • Sunday: 1 p.m. CT

Head Coaches

Southeast Missouri is led by Andy Sawyers, in his 10th season with the Redhawks (250-228 at SEMO, 338-255 overall). Miami (OH) is coached by Brian Smiley, who is in his third season (69-51).

First-Ever Meeting

This weekend marks the first-ever baseball matchup between Southeast Missouri State and Miami University. Interestingly, both teams share the “Redhawks” nickname, though Miami (OH) capitalizes the “H” (RedHawks). Seattle University is also nicknamed the Redhawks.

SEMO fell to #25 Ole Miss on Tuesday, February 24, by a score of 13-3 in seven innings. Designated hitter Joe Hall went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, bringing his season hit total to 14. The Redhawks scored first, but Ole Miss responded with nine runs over the first two innings.
