Steph Curry Injury Update: Will Warriors Star Play Against Lakers?

The Golden State Warriors will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night without their star player, Steph Curry. This marks the 10th consecutive game Curry will miss due to a lingering knee injury.

Curry Ruled Out Against Lakers

Steph Curry has been officially ruled out of Saturday’s game against the Lakers because of right patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly known as “runner’s knee.” This injury, characterized by pain and swelling around the kneecap, has sidelined him since January 30th, when he last played against the Detroit Pistons. Sporting News reports that Curry suffered a setback in his recovery around the NBA All-Star break, attempting to return to play too quickly.

Injury Details and Recovery Timeline

The setback occurred as Curry tried to ramp up his training following the All-Star break, pushing him back in his recovery process. The New York Post indicates he will be re-evaluated by the Warriors training staff on Sunday.

So far this season, Curry has played in 39 games, averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.

Warriors and Lakers Team Status

The Warriors (eighth in the Western Conference) are looking for a second straight win, while the Lakers (sixth in the Western Conference) aim to break a four-game losing streak. Sports Illustrated notes that Draymond Green (lower back) is probable for the Warriors, and Kristaps Porzingis (illness) is questionable. For the Lakers, Rui Hachimura (illness) is doubtful.

Looking Ahead

The Warriors and Lakers are too scheduled to meet again in April, offering another opportunity for a matchup potentially featuring both Curry and LeBron James. A postseason meeting between the two teams remains a possibility.
