Janny van der Heijden Finds New Joy with Rescue Dog Filou After Loss of Beloved Nhaan
Dutch television personality Janny van der Heijden has adopted a new dog, Filou, following the passing of her longtime companion, Nhaan, last year. The 71-year-classic presenter shared the news in RTL Boulevard, expressing her immediate connection with the rescue dog.
A New Chapter After Heartbreak
Janny van der Heijden and her teckel, Nhaan, were inseparable for many years, frequently appearing together on popular shows like Heel Holland Bakt and Denkend aan Holland. Nhaan’s sudden death last summer left van der Heijden heartbroken, as she described in a column for Margriet, lamenting the loss of their shared routines and joyful moments.
Filou: A Rescue Dog from Belgium
Initially hesitant to replace Nhaan, van der Heijden ultimately fell for Filou, a rescue dog originally from Belgium. “I am absolutely in love with Filou. She is a rescue dog. She comes from Belgium and was taken away with her brothers and sisters,” she shared in RTL Boulevard. She initially resisted the idea of getting another dog, stating, “That’s not something I could handle.”
André van Duin’s Approval
Filou has already received the stamp of approval from fellow presenter André van Duin, who deeply missed Nhaan’s presence. Van der Heijden even sought his opinion before finalizing the adoption.
Future on Television?
It remains uncertain whether Filou will join van der Heijden on her television programs. Van der Heijden expressed some concern about Filou’s hunting instincts, questioning whether she could be easily managed on set.
