Daegu Launches AI and Software Talent Development Program

Daegu City, South Korea, is investing 136 million won (approximately $100,000 USD) in a new program designed to cultivate practical artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW) talent. The initiative, known as the ‘practical artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW) talent development lab project,’ aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in these fields and boost local employment opportunities.

Program Details

The program will provide intensive training to 25 unemployed young people residing in Daegu City. The Korea Career Innovation Promotion Agency will oversee the implementation of the project, combining AI/SW training with employment preparation. The city is contributing 95 million won to the total investment, with the remainder coming from other sources.

City’s Vision for Youth Employment

Daegu Mayor Kim Dae-kwon emphasized the city’s commitment to strengthening the practical skills of young people and facilitating their entry into the workforce. He stated that the city will continue to prioritize policies focused on youth employment and the development of local industries.

Expected Outcomes

Suseong-gu officials anticipate that the program will not only nurture a skilled workforce but also contribute to job creation within the region. The initiative is part of the broader ‘Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project’ led by Daegu City.
