Akame ga Kill! Artist Tetsuya Tashiro Launches New Manga, *Boku no Kanojo wa Kessen Heiki*
Manga creator Tetsuya Tashiro, best known for his work on Akame ga Kill!, is set to launch a new manga series titled Boku no Kanojo wa Kessen Heiki. The manga will begin serialization in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine on August 4, as revealed in the magazine’s April issue. Anime News Network first reported the news on March 4, 2026.
From One-Shot to Serialized Series
Boku no Kanojo wa Kessen Heiki is based on a previously published one-shot manga of the same name, which Tashiro released in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. RISE magazine in July 2023. This expansion to a full serialized series indicates strong initial reception to the concept.
Tashiro’s Previous Works
Tetsuya Tashiro gained widespread recognition for his work on Akame ga Kill!, co-created with Takahiro, which ran from 2010 to 2016 in Monthly Gangan Joker. Square Enix published a total of 15 compiled volumes of the series. As reported by Anime News Network, Akame ga Kill! was adapted into a popular TV anime that premiered in Japan in July 2014, and was streamed by Crunchyroll and licensed by Sentai Filmworks for Blu-ray and DVD release. The anime as well aired on Adult Swim’s Toonami block starting in August 2015.
Currently, Tashiro is also working on Slasher Maidens (Kaijin Reijō), which began serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker in April 2018. The manga is ongoing and entered its “final battle” arc with the release of its 11th volume in November 2023. According to Anime News Network, the 14th volume was released in August 2025, with the 15th volume scheduled for release on March 21. Yen Press publishes the English version of Slasher Maidens, having released the 13th volume on February 24.
Jump SQ. And Future Release
The new manga will appear in the September issue of Jump SQ., which is slated for release on August 4, 2026. Reddit users have also noted the upcoming serialization.
