GTT Secures LNG Carrier Tank Design Order from Samsung Heavy Industries

Paris, March 5, 2026 – GTT has announced a recent order from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for the tank design of one Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier (LNGC). The vessel is being built on behalf of a European ship-owner.

Order Details

GTT will design the cryogenic tanks for the LNGC, which will have a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters. The tanks will utilize GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system. GTT announced the order in the first quarter of 2026.

Recent GTT and Samsung Heavy Industries Collaboration

This order follows previous collaborations between GTT, and SHI. In February 2026, GTT received an order from SHI for the tank design of two new LNG carriers.

In December 2022, GTT secured orders from SHI for the tank design of seven new LNG carriers, intended for European and American shipowners. These vessels, each with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, also featured the Mark III Flex containment system, with deliveries scheduled between the first quarter of 2026 and the fourth quarter of 2027.

Earlier, in January 2026, GTT received a tank design order from SHI for two LNG carriers on behalf of Purus. These vessels, each with a capacity of 174,000 m³, were also designed with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

Delivery Timeline

Delivery of the newly ordered vessel is expected in 2028.
