Omaha Hockey Faces North Dakota in NCHC Quarterfinal Showdown
OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Hockey (12-22-0, 8-16-0 NCHC) travels to Grand Forks, N.D., to face top-seeded North Dakota (25-8-1, 17-6-1 NCHC) in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff quarterfinals at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Game one is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on Friday, March 6, followed by game two on Saturday, March 7, at 6 p.m. CT. A potential game three will be played on Sunday, March 8, at 6 p.m. CT if necessary.

Recent Performance
Omaha is coming off a series split in its regular-season finale against Miami (Ohio) at Baxter Arena. In the first game on Feb. 27, the Mavericks earned a 5-3 victory, fueled by a strong performance from their seniors, who scored four of Omaha’s five goals. Senior Cameron Mitchell opened the scoring, followed by a goal from Tyler Rollwagen. After Miami tied the game, Brett Hyland restored Omaha’s lead, and Jacob Guevin extended it. Jacob Slipec sealed the win with a late goal.
The following night, Feb. 28, Omaha fell 4-2 despite goals from Marcus Nguyen and Myles Hilman.
Loranger Named NCHC Rookie of the Month
Freshman forward Jérémy Loranger was named the NCHC Rookie of the Month for February. He led all NCHC freshmen in scoring during the month, with seven points on three goals and four assists in five games. Loranger scored in three consecutive games, including a goal against then-No. 8 Denver on Feb. 14, and factored into all three Maverick goals on Feb. 21 with one goal and two assists.
Key Players
Maxime Pellerin leads the Mavericks with 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists), while Trevor Wong and Luke Woodworth are close behind with 19 points each (4 goals, 15 assists). Wong has totaled 12 points over his last 10 games.
Senior co-captain and goaltender Simon Latkoczy, Omaha’s nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, recorded 28 saves during his final regular-season series against Miami. He has appeared in 23 games this season, totaling 626 saves with a 3.23 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
