Hindustan Zinc and Virginia Tech Partner to Advance Silver Recovery Technology
Udaipur, India – March 6, 2026 – Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and a top five silver producer, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Virginia Tech, a leading U.S. Research university, to enhance silver recovery processes at its lead-zinc (Pb–Zn) concentrators. The collaboration aims to leverage cutting-edge research and technical expertise to improve metallurgical performance and optimize resource utilization.
Strategic Collaboration for Enhanced Silver Recovery
The partnership will focus on refining flotation methods and optimizing reagent usage, critical components in improving concentrate quality and overall plant efficiency. Virginia Tech, recognized for its expertise in mining engineering, mineral processing, and applied metallurgical research, will work closely with Hindustan Zinc to achieve these goals. Specialized studies will assess reagent–mineral–water interactions and other key metallurgical factors impacting metal recovery.
