“Memorial Emilio Valerioti” Photography Competition Draws Over 80 Participants

TARQUINIA, ITALY – March 8, 2026 – The 16th edition of the “Memorial Emilio Valerioti” photography competition has concluded its registration period with a strong showing of over 80 participants from Italy and abroad. The competition, a traditional spring event in the Etruscan city of Tarquinia, celebrates the memory of local photographer and cinematographer Emilio Valerioti.

International and Italian Photographers Participate

Photographers from Canada, France, Switzerland, Argentina, Poland, and Texas, as well as numerous Italian cities including Naples, Reggio Calabria, Bergamo, Mantua, Rome, Civitavecchia, and Montalto di Castro, have submitted their work. Honoring Emilio Valerioti’s Legacy

The competition is dedicated to the memory of Emilio Valerioti, a photographer and cinematographer known for documenting the people, landscapes, and daily life of the Tarquinia region. The initiative is promoted by his daughter, Maria Antonietta Valerioti, in collaboration with the Viva Tarquinia association and under the patronage of the Municipality of Tarquinia. The goal is to foster a passion for photography and provide a platform for non-professional photographers to showcase their talent. This Year’s Themes

For the 2026 edition, photographers were invited to submit entries based on four themes: “Chromatic minimalism: blue and its shades,” “Horizons to tell,” “Wild Encounters,” and “Attimi in città” (Moments in the City). Exhibition Details

Following the registration closure on March 5th, a jury will evaluate the submissions to determine the winners. All photographs will be displayed in a collective exhibition at the Sala D. H.
