Classical Guitarist Isaac Greene to Perform at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg

Guitarist and educator Isaac Greene will present a free concert at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg (CU-Bloomsburg) on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. In Carver Hall, K.S. Gross Auditorium. Following the concert, Greene will conduct a masterclass for CU-Bloomsburg guitar students on Thursday, March 26, at 5:00 p.m. In the Haas Center for the Arts, room 166. Both events are free and open to the public and are sponsored by the Commonwealth University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance.

About Isaac Greene

A native of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Isaac Greene studied guitar with Matthew Slotkin, a professor at CU-Bloomsburg. He furthered his education at the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, earning both a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Guitar. Currently, Greene serves as a professor of guitar at Bob Jones University [1].

Program Details

Greene’s program will span five centuries of repertoire, featuring pieces from the 1500s to the modern era, including original compositions by the artist himself. He emphasizes the importance of both preserving historical works and promoting contemporary music to maintain the guitar tradition alive. As Greene states, “Guitarists have five hundred years of lute and guitar repertoire to explore…Maintaining this tradition has two responsibilities: preservation and progress.” [1]
