Iran-Israel Conflict: Oil Facility Strikes Trigger Toxic Cloud Over Tehran

One Tehran resident described the rain as “black,” noting it was falling miles away from the targeted oil tanks . Another resident, located 70 miles north of Tehran, found their white car almost completely black after the rainfall .

Iran’s Red Crescent Society warned residents that the rainfall could be “highly dangerous and acidic,” potentially causing “chemical burns of the skin and serious damage to the lungs” . Residents reported experiencing sore skin, raw lips, headaches, and irritation to the eyes and throat .

Escalation and Economic Impact

The attacks are part of a broader conflict that began on February 28, 2026, with a joint Israeli-US operation that reportedly killed over 1,200 people in Iran, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Pentagon stated that more than 50,000 US troops were involved in the operation, known as Operation Epic Fury. Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries with US military assets .
