Retired Air Force General Missing in Albuquerque. Gun Also Missing From Home

Albuquerque, NM – A search is underway for retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. William “Neil” McCasland, 68, who was last seen in the area of Quail Run Court NE in Albuquerque on February 27, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) continues to investigate his disappearance and is seeking the public’s assistance.

Timeline of Disappearance

According to the BCSO, a repairman was at McCasland’s home around 10:00 a.m. On February 27th. McCasland’s wife, Susan McCasland Wilkerson, left the residence approximately an hour later. Upon her return around 12:04 p.m., McCasland was no longer at the home [KRQE]. She reported him missing at approximately 3:07 p.m. After searching for several hours.

Missing Items and Investigation

Investigators have determined that a .38-caliber revolver with a leather holster was missing from McCasland’s home [Albuquerque Journal]. Other missing items include his hiking boots and wallet. Medical Condition and Wife’s Statement
