Yolanthe Cabau Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award for Combating Child Sexual Exploitation

Actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Yolanthe Cabau has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York City Bar Association for her dedicated work in the global fight against child sexual exploitation. The award was presented during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Week in New York on March 17, 2026.

A Lifetime Dedicated to Protecting Children

Cabau is the founder of Free a Girl, a women-led non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on rescuing children from sexual exploitation and bringing perpetrators to justice. The award recognizes her eighteen years of commitment to this cause, encompassing rescue missions, support for survivors, and advocacy for systemic change. Free a Girl utilizes undercover rescue operations to identify and arrest those involved in child sex trafficking.

Recognition of Frontline Workers

The awards evening highlighted the importance of safety within the justice system, acknowledging the need to protect both vulnerable children and the teams working to create change. The New York City Bar Association emphasized that safeguarding those on the frontlines is crucial to effectively combating child sexual exploitation.

Documenting the Mission: ‘YOLANTHE’ on Netflix

Cabau’s work, particularly her efforts in Nepal, was documented in the Netflix reality series YOLANTHE, which premiered in the summer of 2025. A second season is currently in production, offering further insight into her life and mission.

“I do not stand alone in receiving this recognition from the New York City Bar Association,” Cabau stated. “I accept it on behalf of every brave survivor and member of our team. Ending this injustice requires a united effort at both the local and global level to raise awareness, deliver justice and protect children, and we remain committed to driving that change.”
